Ground Floor Extension and Loft Conversion
Design stages and project brief for this renovation, rear extension and loft conversion on a terraced house
Our client contacted us looking to substantially transform this terraced house in London whilst completely renovating the interior and exterior of the house the homeowner also asked us to come up with a design that maximised the size of the house to its full potential. Our architect completed the site measured survey and designed a scheme that made full use of the homeowners permitted development rights which included a 6m rear extension and a dormer loft conversion. Internally the layout of the house was re-designed to replace the galley kitchen and smaller rooms downstairs with a large open plan space running the full depth of the property. Ground floor rear extension
Here you can see the build stages for the 6m ground floor rear extension on this terraced house, the new space has been designed to be open plan with the existing sitting room and dining room creating a very spacious downstairs area. The old galley kitchen space has been turned into a downstairs wc accessed via the hallway and a utility which is accessed via the kitchen.
Light has been added to the new extended space via 2 flat roof skylights a new kitchen window and a glass french door to the garden.

Dormer Loft Conversion
Once the groundwork and structure of the rear extension was built work started on the dormer loft conversion. Here you can see some of the build stages as the project progressed. Work on the loft was ongoing concurrently with the rear kitchen extension and house renovation. The Dormer Loft Conversion has been designed to accomodate a master bedroom with generous eaves storage and an ensuite bathroom.
Externally the Dormer Loft Conversion has a Juliette Balcony and is covered in red concrete tiles to match the original existing roof. To add more light 2 Velux rooflights have been added to the front roof.
Full house renovation
The original house, a 1930's built terraced property in London had not been modernised for a considerable period of time and many of the areas were in need of replacement or renovation. The layout of the house was also not to the taste of the homeowner so during our design phases we worked with the homeowner to find out what they wanted to improve about the layout of the existing house to not only make it flow well with the new spaces but also to compliment modern lifestyles.
